I didn't even think to look for other files in this folder that might be related. If you are using Visual Studio Code, turn autosaving on. If you are using Notepad++, Wordpad or Notepad, SAVE. If this file does not exist, type out a typo (you do not need to post it!) & add it to your dictionary, then open the file up & delete the TOP most line. I've changed my username when the game was open and was wondering if this might be the cause. Also, on Origin, it says I have played 0 hours, though I've easily played over six. This includes keybindings, video settings, audio volume, etc. Open the file up & delete EVERY single line in it other than the VERY bottom most one (which contains a checksum value.) When I start the game up, all of my settings reset. This file CAN be deleted, however, you shouldn't do so.
How to reset steam settings mac os#
If you're using Mac OS or Linux, you will have to find this folder yourself. So I just purchased the steam machine i7 today and everything was going well until I got to the login and join screen everytime I clicked on username the keyboard would not pop up so I tried resetting it to factory settings and nothing changed I went to the system settings and it says my software is at 2.0 when it needs to be at 2.70 I dont. Originally posted by Shizune:The file you're looking for (at least within Windows) is in %LocalAppData%/Steam/htmlcache & it's named "Custom Dictionary.txt" (without the quotation marks.) You should be able to just open this file with notepad (if it's over 1MB, which it shouldn't EVER be, you may need to use Wordpad (included with OS install), Notepad++, or Visual Studio Code.)
